If you have a preferences we will try to make it happen for you.
Generally, each location has pros and cons. Kind of like which city to live in when you are in your country (or which city is the best).
A lot of the experience in China will have to do with what you make of it.
I have seen people love every city in China. Usually the true-love comes when people get out of their shell, make some friends (usually making friends is easy), explore, have an open mind, etc. That can really happen in any city.
When it comes to salary, there are some exceptions, but generally the higher salary isn’t necessarily better. For example living in Shanghai your rent may be 4x that of someone in Chongqing (this is a real example), so getting a higher salary may not be an advantage. Plus, some schools offering the higher salary will have much higher expectations. Usually there is a balance. All of our teachers explore, travel, eat as they want without financial difficulties, but it is easier to live better when the cost of living is lower.
We are in the process of setting up a system where teachers can submit their preferences, but for the time being it is more of a discussion before we decide together on which would be best. As mentioned if you have a preference, just let us know and we should be able to make it happen.
