Online shopping is easy, and huge in China and many teachers enjoy using English friendly sites. On example is https://www.baopals.com/ which is the same as Taobao but in English (the prices might be a little higher though). Another option is using website with Chrome language translation so that you can see the page in English. Here is an article on automatic page translation in Chrome: https://browserhow.com/how-to-auto-translate-a-webpage-in-chrome-computer/
Fairly soon after arriving in China you will get your bank account set up. Once you connect your bank account to Wechat or to Alipay, you will be able to order food, clothes or just about anything online in China.
Popular websites keep changing like everywhere else in the world. There is no Amazon in China (they shut down operations in 2019) as it didn’t take off there. Taobao (owned by Alibaba) is still massive and that probably wont change but there is always some cool new site for discounts or for buying so ask around as soon as you arrive.
