The Work Permit document needed for getting your Z-visa is a document given by Immigration in China which basically says you are allowed to work there. We will email you the English and Chinese version.
We have yet to have any teacher get the work permit but then not get their visa, so this basically means that you are coming to China! Congratulations!
- US Citizens: you need to go to the closest consulate/embassy to have your visa processed. Here is the application form
- UK Citizens: it is the visa processing center (the place that would have done the authentication for your police check/DBS and diploma) (not the embassy/consulate) that processes the visas. Generally you need to apply in advance and submit the documents online Here are the location and application details
- Canadian Citizens: it is the visa processing center (the place that would have done the authentication for your police check/DBS and diploma) (not the embassy/consulate) that processes the visas. In Canada, they may change it soon but currently you can just got to the location with the paperwork and without an appointment to submit the visa application. Here are the locations . For the application, it is better to type it out (usually they will ask for you to type it out and print it out at the visa office if you come with a hand written application)
Note: It is recommended not to use an agency/courier service to have the visa processed unless you are processing your visa with a lot of time before you need to go to China. When working with an agency/courier, you should expect to add 3 extra days to the time it takes to get your visa and often small things that you could just simply be changed/initial on the form when applying are often sent back to you by the agency and then it takes an extra day or two more in processing.
Usually the visa takes 3 business days to process when you bring it in yourself. Some of the offices have 1-day express service for processing the visa or they can do it faster if you have a reason.
Here are some parts that some teachers have asked to clarify when filling out the application:

Expected Arrival Date: It is fine to guess at the date What’s my name in Chinese? = N/A Entries; Single? Double? Multiple? Select Single Entry. With the Z-Visa, they only give 1 entry (see example pictures below). After arriving in China, you have 30 days to apply for the residency permit (which we help to submit and do everything for you). Once you have the residency permit/card, then they put a new visa in your passport with multiple entries. So basically if you put multiple entry they will adjust it to single. What’s my itinerary? As this visa form is used for different types of visas, that is a question more for tourists. Anyways. the following will work fine. Day 1 – Arrival/looking for an apartment, Day 2 – Arrival Set up, Day 3 – Arrival set up/training, Day 4 – Training, Day 5 – Training, Day 6+ Weekend tourist things/starting work What do I put for my current employer? If you are employed in your home country, it is fine to put your current employers information. As you haven’t started working yet (and they are not looking for that information), it is fine to put unemployed if you haven’t recently been employed. What do I put for the length of the visa? Visas usually come in 1-year blocks. If you are starting mid-year you may have a longer contract. Regardless, the Visa validity = 12 months, Maximum duration for longest stay (days) = 365 -
